romney supporter governor chris christie boldly predicted in so many words that romney would win by a knockout. let's talk about it tonight, as well as everything else that goes into winning a debate. former new york mayor and presidential candidate rudy giuliani joins me. so yesterday, governor christie kind of went against the romney campaign general message, kind of raised expectations saying he was going to turn the race upside down, it was going to be a barn burner. do you think that was a mistake? >> chris is his own man, he's got his own views. i think chris is right to the extent that it's a very important debate for -- more important debate for governor romney than it is for president obama. we know president obama. we either like him, don't like him or are in between. lot more people have to get to know governor romney, so i think it's an important debate. i think he has to be presidential. i think he has to convey the kind of person that people would be comfortable with as president. i tend to think we kind of score this as if it's a boxing match or basketball game. >>

argument over the last week or so that some of the polls are purposely skewed. chris christie said over the weekend he doesn't buy that. do you? >> no, i don't think they are purposely skewed. i think there's a possibility that they are because the one thing that you never know and the pollsters always trying to guess is who is going to vote. and you can draw a sample, and if your sample includes people who have an opinion, but don't vote, why, then it ends up and they say well the pollster did it deliberately. i don't think anybody is doing anything deliberate, but i do think the one number that should concern the obama forces is the fact that he is -- if rasmussen is correct, that far below 50% because historically the undecideds in the last weeks, indeed sometimes it's the last few days of an election, the undecided us usually shift against the incumbent simply because the incumbent is the one they know the most about, and therefore the incumbent is the one that has the edge in having people make up their minds one way or the other. i know in my own first race, i was well behind my o
